Important Things with Demetri Martin is a half hour comedy variety show hosted by Demetri Martin on Comedy Central. Being already familiar with his comedy style - cleaner than Chris Rock and more cerebral, some prop comedy (with the use of large pads and funny drawings), and of course some straight forward stand up comedy. Being TV, there are also taped segments with famous cameos and guest appearances.
Every episode revolves around a certain important theme, object or idea, where funny observations, data and what not is presented in an entertaining and enlightening fashion. He says stuff that makes you go, "Oh, yah hor..."
As far as American comedians go, he's pretty unconventional - he does a little bit of everything in his act - standup, prop, drawings, one-liners... He's also a ambidextrous guy who can draw with both hands, tells jokes with the large pad while playing the guitar and the harmonica and other instruments some times at the same time. (He also dropped out of a full ride law school scholarship to do comedy... have to give the man props for having the balls to do that.)
It's only been 4 episodes so far and they're not bad - but some of the running gags are wearing a little thin on me.
