Sam Pat Moment of the Week

[Before anyone asks: No, I cannot define the slang term "sam pat"- I think I know how to use it and in what context, but that's about it.]

Back story: For the last week and half, there's been this weird flu/cold/cough/potential piggy flu thing making the rounds at work when the workaholic who signs the paycheques finally succumbed this weird bug he caught from his youngest son and has been coughing, sneezing and generally spreading it indiscriminately, infecting about half the office, myself included for a few days. My boss (as in person I report directly to) is out for for goodness knows how long more from it (and then some) and the man who signs the paycheques has been driving ME crazy in her absence. He was on the road to recovery a couple of days ago and then fell off the wagon again today. Oy.

It was bad for me about Monday and Tuesday, by Wednesday I was feeling okay thanks to the cough syrup(s) I've been taking. (Finished Mum's Benadyrl which knocked me out good).

The other cow-orkers are a little freaked out after a manager got infected after having a closed-door meeting with the boss. [He had it coming.. dumbass :P] It was so bad a couple of days ago that some of them went home early as they thought they had it also. It's called mass hysteria, people. Sheesh. And they don't even share the same breathing space. If anything, I should be the one going home early, not them...

ANYWAY - The ("health conscious") technical director came in today after flying back from Indonesia the night before, and at some point asked me..

TD: How come you okay already when [boss] and [the aforementioned manager] still like that?

Me: Because I'm 25.

TD: ??

Fortunately another colleague understood what I was getting at, and explained it to him. At least he got it after that :P
