Finally done with the Twilight series.

And I don't know why President Obama wants to read it (at least he's been quoted somewhere about that).

So I finished speeding through the last one, Breaking Dawn, last week. It took me a few days to finish.

I know what I said about the series. There's something about the series that I can't stand that I can't quite put my finger on. Like I've told people before, the best analogy I could think of is a horrific car accident - you don't want to look, but you do anyway.

And no, I refuse to contribute to Stephenie Meyer's book royalties (I can imagine at least ONE person who might flip their lids about that) in the process. There are plenty of books I want to read, but not necessarily want to own. This is one of those cases.

Some random thoughts/observations:
  • The author bending conventional vampire canon to her needs is just plain sacrilegious.
  • The books are long winded I did not read every single word. Unfortunately it's compelling enough for me to read on.
  • The vampire sex was so veiled I didn't know that Bella got knocked up until she found out she was pregnant days after the wedding.
  • I have no idea why anyone would read another book ABOUT the series from Edward's point of view.
  • The wolves' imprinting business is interesting - but disturbing as a couple of the wolves "imprinted" on babies... I know everyone doesn't age after a time, but still...
Unfortunately, I am now curious about Breaking Dawn the movie, which I heard might split into two movies.
