- MJ tribute was not unexpected given what he did to the video music genre - don't know why Madonna has to open the show with her speech. But the show has had unusual openings before, so oh well.
- Russell Brand was not his usual lewd self - how disappointing :(
- Lady GaGa's costumes/outfits are worth watching the show for. Check out her blood-bursting performance as well :)
- Kanye is a drunk douchebag. MTV should have a Kanye watch at all their award shows that he's gonna be at. He should be at next year's awards shows to liven things up, haha.
- Taylor Swift's performance with the NY public transport - errr.... interesting...
- Always glad to see Gerard Butler, even if it's only for about 30 seconds as he introduced Muse with Alexa Chung.
- Muse's performance was so-so - and it was their first one on American TV too. What a waste. Didn't help that they're Twilight author Stephenie Meyer's favourite band, urgh.
- The New Moon extended trailer is the most I'll ever watch of the movie.
- P!nk's (she changed her name; swapping the "i" for the exclaimation mark) Cirque-esque performance was a bit za dou - and her pink heart-shaped nipple pasty stayed on the whole time. Amazing - and her performance last year had explosions going on behind her as she sang. What would it be next year?
- Just remembered that Andy Samberg was in the SNL spoof of Beyonce's Single Ladies video.
- It's so cute that Taylor Swift got a second chance at her acceptance speech.
