Finally got to check out the sale today. Parking wasn't too difficult to find if you don't mind walking a little. I parked further because of the huge lorries coming through the main road.
There seems to be MORE books than the last round, under the zinc roofing. It was raining slightly when I got there and it was so bothersome lugging the box of books AND the umbrella around, I dropped everything off at the reservation corner, where I filled out a little slip of paper and kept my hands free to continue browsing. By the time I left, the sun was up and I had been sweating profusely, forgetting to bring the bandanna that I had wanted to wear for this reason. Urgh.
It wasn't terribly crowded when I was there, which was a good thing. Dusty books everywhere, so was avoiding my face with my dust-coated hands. Of course you could always get some water and wash from the booth selling water coolers near the kids' books and also to quench your thirst while you're there :P
As I was browsing, there was this woman with her stack of finds who had the balls to say that the books were dusty. In my mind I was thinking, "Do you want clean or cheap books? Cos you can wipe the dust OFF the books..." Some people arr...
Selection - plenty of both paper and hard back, plenty of Twilight books (first 2 books, methinks), the earlier Jamie Oliver cookbooks are about RM20, RM30 (the ones with younger, skinnier Jamie).
I can't help but feel that the prices have gone up a little - the paperbacks are about RM10-20 each and the average price of hardcover books were RM25. Felt like my usual RM100 budget wasn't enough. (I was right - I manged to get 8 books for under RM100 a couple of years ago. Cheh.)
My haul is as follows (after a few minutes of sorting):
- Anthony Bourdain - No Reservations: Around the World on an Empty Stomach (RM20, paperback) - yes! finally! :)
- Sue Townsend - The Lost Diaries of Adrian Mole: 1999-2001 (RM22)
- Belinda Starling - The Journal of Dora Damage (RM15)
- Luca Turin, Tania Sanchez - Perfumes: The Guide (RM25)
- Michael Ruhlman - The Reach of a Chef: Professional Cooks in the Age of Celebrity (RM15)
