Lunch at Village Park, Damansara Utama

I don't do a lot of food blogging simply because I either don't eat out all that often or I can't be bothered with taking the requisite pictures when I actually do. This will be one of those picture-less blog posts because you can look up what the other food bloggers thought about the place.

After the banking and bill paying errands, the sibling and I decided to go to Village Park (known for their nasi lemak) for lunch as I've never been there before personally while he (my bro) has. It was easier getting the signature nasi lemak and fried chicken than it was getting a table, and we were there around noon-ish. It was that packed. And seeing the "Reserved" signs on some of the tables did not help matters AT ALL. I didn't know you can reserve a table at a place like that. Oy vey.

If nothing else, the service wasn't too bad for weekday lunch rush - a waiter took our drink orders and they came quickly enough. Balked a little bit when my teh ais was RM2.70 (albeit nice and not too diluted or anything) and my bro's kurang manis Milo ais was RM3, even though I didn't pay for the meal.

Anyway, as much as I found both the nasi lemak and the fried chicken (RM7.70, very glad that it's a whole leg for the price, or I'd be really annoyed) to be delicious, but the sambal leaves a lot to be desired. In fact, it is downright racist (a term I use when something that is SUPPOSED to be spicy is anything BUT). I don't know if it's a bad batch of sambal or if the recipe's changed, but if I'm not blowing my nose, it's just not spicy enough. It has been CHEENA-fied. WTF. My bro said it used to be really spicy, now it's just... meh.

Seeing pictures of well-known local personalities like Maya Karin and Tun Dr. M didn't really help either - I'm guessing they're a factor in the price increase :P

To conclude: the nasi lemak is not bad (except the sambal), service was not too bad. But I probably won't be going back there anytime soon on my own volition.
