Wedding dinner at Regent Restaurant, Seremban

Attended another friend wedding, this time at Regent Restaurant, Seremban. I wasn't about to go if it was by myself, but someone else didn't mind coming along with me, so fine. I was nervous because I had no reason to go there specifically before, let alone drive there (driving through doesn't exactly count) across state lines alone until now. Understandably, so were the 'rents.

We left PJ a little after 5 p.m.. It was a little slow at some point on the North-South highway, but not too much at the Seremban toll plaza, so we got to the restaurant early enough (before 7 p.m.). Appreciated that they had a parking lot, but didn't quite appreciate walking in heels on the unpaved surface :P Was at the table of primary school classmates, plus a couple of the guys' girlfriends.

Things would be a lot better if karaoke was not an option that people kept exercising. We probably heard the lot of the usual Chinese songs (save for the Justice Bao theme song :P), even the ones I remembered hearing in those days. There was this uncle that went up to sing more than once, either being sad songs (so I've been told, how inappropriate) or to sing in a sad manner. I later heard that uncle was going through a hard time recently; if that was the case, a wedding dinner is not the place for catharsis :P If we weren't at the back of the space (there was other wedding dinners happening at the same time, separated by a partition and also upstairs), we would have probably pelt food at the guy, but we didn't; instead we settled for grimacing and giggling uncontrollably. In retaliation to the cold reception, he went up to sing some more before the night ended. Oy vey.

The food? It was edible. There was an appetizer plate of roasted pork before the usual Chinese wedding dinner, which we cleaned out...

See?
It was the fastest dinner I've ever attended - we were done before 10 p.m., whereas we would still be early in the meal if the dinner were to be in KL. We waited for the crowd and traffic out of the restaurant to clear before finally making a move ourselves.

Dinner was from 5.38 to 10.30 p.m., which explains A LOT
Fellow guest at the dinner (our secondary schoolmate, who I didn't know was the bride's kindergarten friend) hitched a ride back to PJ with us, we stopped for drinks at Alexis in Bangsar before finally calling it a night.
