Nando's Cataplana Porto

Stepped into a Nando's (okay, the one at IPC) last week after a few years... or since the cockroach incident at the 1 Utama branch (have not gone back since). I have no idea what possessed me to order one of the new rice dishes they introduced recently. I got the Cataplana Porto (RM 26.90), which basically consists of long grain rice, chicken thigh meat, black olives and mushrooms. You could call it a balanced meal.

As I was there a little before lunch on a weekday and it wasn't all that busy, the wait wasn't too long... well, the free Wi-Fi helped lessened the wait.

What you don't see is a spicy tomato-based sauce in the rice
The portion was about medium-sized - too much for the small eater, not enough for the big eater. The chicken was nice and juicy (it was supposed to be thigh meat, so it had better be), the mushrooms were not of the canned variety. I did not know that the rice was spicy. I had specifically ordered mild chicken so that I could just pour on the spicier peri-peri sauces on top, so I knew it wasn't from the chicken. So don't do what I did and have this without a drink unless your tongue is made of either lead or asbestos.

In the end, my tongue was overwhelmed and I had to put the rest in a doggy bag. I wasn't as hungry as I thought I was when I ordered it.

Cute to-go packaging.
It's worth trying it at least ONCE if you like spicy food.
