After all the things I said about not wanting to go to the newly opened McCafe in Kota Damansara last week because of the distance, I finally got my butt there. Because of a doorbuster promo. This promo, specifically - a free espresso mug when you buy a medium (12oz, a Starbucks Tall) or Large (16oz, Starbucks Grande) drink. Only 300 of them. Since it's open from 7 a.m. to 12 m.n., well... you can read on.
I had set an alarm, but having trouble staying asleep lately, I was up a little after 6 a.m. and left the house in under 20 minutes. Took the short cut to Kota Damansara from Bandar Utama and bypassed the LDP and IPC. I had to remember to keep going after Sunway Giza and I saw it after several traffic lights. Because it was still dark out and before 7 a.m., I got there around 6.45 a.m. and I was relieved that there wasn't already a line formed out the door. But a line did form about 10 minutes before.

I was probably about 4th or 5th in line |

Check out the line after me - and this was before 7 a.m. |
Because they were making drinks to order (having to pull shots, etc), the line slows down some after a bunch of drink orders, so you would be kept waiting.
If you printed the flyer online or the coupon in the newspaper, all you had to do was to show the cashier when you order - they're not about to take those. Since there wasn't a one mug per person rule (which they probably should have thought of before), I decided to get two - a cappucino and a mocha. I wanted to have the former to go, but since it was already made, I told them that I wanted the other to go before it was even made.

Cappuccino and brownie. No, I didn't use all that brown sugar in one drink. |
So I took a seat at a table where I can watch everything. I like the seats - I can still on it cross legged, it was so wide and comfy. It could probably hold derrieres wider than mine :P The line by this time was long, and it was snaking around the McDs.
As I was having my sugary breakfast, the three girls after me bought six drinks (and got six mugs) between them and probably spent a good 10 - 15 minutes taking pictures of themselves and/or their haul in turn on their respective phones. I'm a slow eater, but I was a bite away from finishing the brownie when they were done :P

The espresso mug handover/drink pass was fast. |
At first they were giving people the paper bags that you put pastries in (the smaller, flat ones with no flat bottom gusset), but it was awkward to put the mug(s) in. They finally got the bigger ones with bottom gussets not long after. Asked for one myself before I left.

Give them props for trying to do the "M", even in a to-go drink This was the mocha. |

In my excitement, I totally missed the word "espresso" and totally wasn't expecting the espresso SIZED mug. Oh well. |
The coffee wasn't TERRIBLE tasting, but I'm not a coffee connoisseur. The brownie however, was a different story - it was basically chocolate cake (not fudgy AT ALL) and it practically reeks of vanilla. I appreciate vanilla as much as anyone else, but it was overkill. I also wished that they had a low fat milk option for the drinks. Oh, my lactose intolerant self....
In hindsight, I probably should've ordered a hot chocolate instead of a cappuccino. But that would have to wait until a McCafe closer to me opens first.
The sam pat things one does when the parental units are not around... seriously. I wouldn't bother if I had to explain to them why I'm going to McDs at 6 in the morning.
At least there weren't too many aunties and uncles in front of me in line :P
