Harry Potter: The Exhibition and Warhol: 15 Minutes Eternal

Went to the ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands to check out both the Harry Potter and Andy Warhol exhibitions but didn't want to pay two seperate entrance fees. Found out online that the all-access pass can be purchased in person at the ticketing counter, so didn't get tickets beforehand.

Here's a tip for the cheapskates: Sign up for a Sands Rewards Club membership online and after you collect the card in person at any of the membership counters at Marina Bay Sands (wouldn't recommend doing so at the casino unless you are of age, etc and need an excuse to look around), you get 10% off ArtScience Museum tickets (among other things - check out the perks yourselves)

The lines were moving pretty fast, so I can't complain. I feel bad for the folks behind the ticketing counters, having to deal with blur tourists like ourselves. I didn't think I could use the Sands Rewards card for the all-access pass, but as it turns out, I could. Only paid S$25.20 (U.P. S$28). Didn't take any pictures once inside both exhibits, just outside where it's still permissible. If you want to see what's inside, you can look those up yourselves.

Cheap, no? Beats paying S$28 :P
When I first read online that the Potter exhibit was on timed entry, I was afraid that I would have to wait a long time; but we just made it for the 11 a.m. slot even though we were a little late. By the time we went downstairs, we didn't have to wait too long (had to pose for pictures with scarves and wands, that you can buy at the gift shop, if you want, on the way out) before the cheery guide brought us inside to the preamble that is the Sorting Ceremony. I was glad that only three "brave volunteers" (kids) went through it before actually going inside, I thought everyone had to do it.

The exhibition consists of actual props from the movies (seemed clean enough, didn't smell too funky to me), and what I was most surprised by is how small some of the costumes are, until I had to remind myself that the leads were children when it all started. I was also glad that the creatures were not animatronic; it would freak me out, let alone small children. This travelling exhibition is why the cast don't have too many Potter souvenirs for themselves.

Exhibition guide was S$30. Didn't get one.
Didn't see the car the first time. Only saw it on the way out.

Went upstairs to see the Warhol exhibition and it was not bad. If you want to see more of Warhol's work than just the ones you normally see in pop culture, you should go.

My Potter haul
Spent a little time at the souvenir shop (last stop before you leave, and you can't go back in afters) and after balking at the prices (S$60 for a Marauder's Map and S$25 for chopsticks in the likeness of a character's wand, among other things O_o), I settled for a tee shirt (S$50) and a mug (S$20) and got several paper bags to go with. At least the cashier was nice enough to give them, haha.

If you have the chance, you should go.
