Another country, another Tune Hotel; this time, one of the newly opened ones in Ermita, Manila. It's so new, you may have trouble with drivers not knowing where it is. There's a Maybank next door, and an "Irish" pub and a 7-11 downstairs.
Location: It's located in the nightlife area (think Chow Kit, Jalan Alor or Petaling Street, not Bangsar Telawi), so unless you're into the nightlife scene, I wouldn't venture out at night alone.

Room: Got a room on the 10th floor to myself. It's clean. The pop out desk is next to the bed, so if you pop it out to use, you basically cut off access to one side of the bed. The safe in the room is (thankfully) idiotproof to use, so I used it to store my passport and other stuff I wasn't using because housekeeping does come in when you're out. Even with the fan on it felt a little stuffy and you couldn't open the window because it's sealed (to prevent jumpers, I suppose) to let some air in. Not much of a view, anyway.
Room amenities: The hair dryer is out in the hallway next to the big "last look before I leave" mirror and not inside the bathroom.
Pre-existing condition. I had nothing to do with this. |

Bed: The pillows were like marshmallows - a little too soft for my liking, but you could still sleep on it. But not too cooling as I keep waking up in the middle of the night in a sweat. So no good sleep for me :P And I thought I detect a funky odour with them as well....
Bathroom: There was only one glass panel on the shower half of the room instead of two, so the other half would get wet when you take a shower. Apart from random hair on the shower stall wall, it was pretty clean.
You would think that except for some local flavour, all the Tune Hotels would be pretty similar to each other in terms of room amenities. Apparently not - my aunt mentioned that there were soap dispensers in the KK rooms, so she didn't pack any thinking it might be the same here. Tony Fernandes should go all Undercover Boss on his dang hotels and stay like a typical guest :P
