Got a ticket to see Bridge of Spies at the second home (playing in select screens) at the only decent time me and other people with day jobs have to choose from (definitely the case as it's about 3/4 full when I went in).
It's about an insurance lawyer who gets roped in to defend an alleged Soviet spy (very the Atticus Finch) and (later) the prisoner exchange when the Russians caught an American U2 pilot where he wasn't supposed to be (Russian airspace).
Going in, I wasn't expecting to be laughing this much watching a movie of this nature. I think Spielberg and his editors knew that people are in for a long movie, so they added some light moments to keep people going.
If you like a lot of explosions and gore... well, you won't find that here. It's very the talky-talky. And almost 2.5 hours long. But if you want to watch, you should.
- It's getting harder and harder to see Tom Hanks not being Tom Hanks when I see him on screen, all I see is Tom Hanks and not who he's playing.
- Every time Abel responds with "Would it help?", it cracked everyone up. Got funnier every time.
- Anyone noticed Bono's daughter in the movie? I don't know if it's a coincidence or not.
- I wonder how much did Prudential pay for the mentions in the movie?
