Week 22, 2018

Slow news day when news of mamak workers washing plates in a gross puddle got people all outraged. Also why you should always be leery of people and their phones.
  • Tuesday was a state holiday (Vesak). So I took the chance to check out the new flagship Robinson's store downtown.
  • Also took Friday so I could (ostensibly) go to GPO before the weekend crowd for their weekend sale... and I didn't want to pay more for parking than I would've liked had I gone on Saturday or Sunday. Some shops were finding it hard with not charging 6% GST on their POS systems.
  • Friday was the start of the tax break as GST is finally abolished. If you're looking to get big ticket items like cars, etc, now's the time to do it before the SST kicks in in September.
  • To counter all the third party crowdfunding/money collection scams for the trillion RM national debt, the gahmen has started their official fund collection account with Maybank. So if you've got a Maybank account, third party transfers are free... Although they've mentioned that donations to the account are tax exempt (how? show the transfer receipt?), I've my doubts about that.
  • I more or less have caught up on the current season of MasterChef Australia. Also, the regular, grownups American MasterChef has started where the judges each have a team of 8 contestants to mentor through the competition macam The Voice
  • Checked out the new BookXcess in Cyberjaya on Saturday cos they were having a storewide discount promo. Came away empty handed.
  • Also checked out a couple of warehouse sales and got some door gifts (for lack of a better term).
  • Should've realised that Hammam's weekday only Ramadan promo will be back...
