I only had time to do this now because, work and life got in the way this week. So here's the blog post about the adjoining burger place at The Joke Factory, Joke and Lok.
Besides being a burger joint, apparently there's also lok-lok...?
While waiting for the show to start (and having checked the menu out beforehand online), I decided to try out the Garlic Cheesy Chomp burger (torched garlic aioli, tomato, caramalised onions with either beef or chicken patty, RM17) because I hadn't had dinner yet at the time.
Service: I wish the service was better. Even if I didn't want to eat there, they could've at least asked if I wanted to order anything, at the very least a drink. Nope. Instead, I was ignored for several minutes while the staff were just running in and out past me until I gave them a stink eye while asking for a menu (I was really hangry by then because it was past my usual dinner time). Even asking for some ketchup took longer than expected - it took so long, I could've done it myself because the dispenser was just there. If they had charged 10% service charge, I would've not paid that.
Maybe it was because I was there by myself and not with a white person. Just maybe...?
Food: Burger itself was decent, the garlic aioli not overwhelmingly garlick-y (all the times I sat next to someone with garlic breath at a COMEDY show... *shudder*). The tomatoes were generously thick cut and the lettuce was fresh. But the sweet potato fries were COLD. They were still ONLY a bit crispy (not that soggy), but they were COLD. WTF they were COLD. At least toss them in the microwave or something lah.
TL; DR - there's LOADS of other eateries in Publika where I wouldn't have minded paying the 10% service charge/tip. I'll probably stick to ordering drinks and snacks if I'm back for a show in the future.
