#CMCONadirah

I got a last minute ticket to see #CMCONadirah on CloudTheatre, a one night only event on Saturday. It was pay as you like (from like, RM8 to RM100). And again, not a smooth online transaction because their payment gateway (Raudhah Pay) crapped out on me right after I keyed in the OTP (which meant money already deducted) and the transaction didn't complete. I had to liaise with someone over at CloudTheatre FB page to resolve it (which involve sending a screenshot of my online banking page, marked up for privacy) so I could get access to the show.

I won't go on too much about what Nadirah is about because I saw the KL run almost 8 years ago. You could google it too, I think.

This was a recording of the play which was done in Japan (for an arts festival) back in 2016. So the cast and crew involved were watching along with the audience members. Except for the title character Nadirah (Sharifah Amani) and Farouk (Iedil Dzuhrie Alaudin), everyone else (Neo Swee Lin, Patrick Teoh and Farah Rani) reprised their roles Sahirah, Robert and Maznah respectively.

One of the perks about watching an online show is being able to interact with other audience members in the chat as the show was going on. People were booing Farouk and were cheering Maznah on, which you would not be able to do IRL.

  • Apparently, 700-over tickets were sold. People watching it on their various screens from all over the world, some watching their first play ever. Which seems bananas to me, but there you go.
  • The post-play discussion was kinda interesting, but not for everyone. Seeing other randos on the Zoom screen like they were also participating was kinda weird for me.
  • Due to popular demand, they might repeat this next month.
