As expected, my septuagenarian dad finally got a COVID vaccine appointment a few days ago via the contact tracing app MySejahtera, which he wouldn't have known about if the sibling hadn't been poking around on his phone. Because it was gonna be in Sunway Pyramid (the convention centre, anyway), I was unilaterally made the designated driver, probably because they figured that I wouldn't mind the excuse to hang out in the mall? That was my best guess.
Got there a little before noon. I was a little anxious because I normally do basement parking than upstairs parking in Pyramid. Dropped him off at the designated entrance, went upstairs to park cos I knew I wasn't gonna find a spot on that particular level. Because I was still lingering in my car (looking for something that I thought fell somewhere in the car), the family in the next car asked to borrow jumper cables cos they couldn't start their car. Luckily for them I still had the roadside emergency kit which I forgot had jumper cables in it. So after I provided the juice to help the jump start, they were on their way.
After all that, I managed to find the old bean waiting in the first line (of many, as I heard later) still in the parking lot (essentially). He basically shooed me off and told me he'd call me when he's done.
I was hanging out downstairs in the (hot and stuffy cos it was minimal lights and AC on) mall for over 4 hours. I called every hour to check his progress. Went up to where I guess the exit was and finagled the free parking for vaccine appointments (valid the whole day, but you have to have the mall app, the whole slog). I was hot, sweaty and on the verge of a headache by the time we left.
Asked him how it went. Long wait aside, he said everyone was nice; he got help with the MySejahtera app from the kids around him... They even helped to take a picture of him (presumably of him being jabbed? I dunno). He got Pfizer, but I don't think he was that picky...? Not sure if he asked for it specifically or if it was based on the pre-jab consult.
There were a lot of old peepur in there, I dunno why it took so long.
I have so many questions, like.. can you leave the line if you needed to use the bathroom?
I would be more pissed if I had to pay for parking. Theoretically, you could lie and say you're with someone who's getting jabbed for the free parking, but why lah.
