Having read that this was going to be the longest Batman movie ever (at almost 3 hours long), the idea of watching this on a weeknight is already a no-go (not unless you're willing to suffer through the sleep deprivation the next day). Found the cheapest ticket around for a Saturday morning screening - the RM12, 11 a.m. screening at 3 Damansara fka Tropicana City Mall (I also had parking rebate e-vouchers to use up). I left the house so late (few minutes to 11 a.m.), by the time I collected the preordered popcorn set, etc, I only sat through the last few ads before the movie started, so yay me LOL
I don't remember my reaction when word got out that Robert Pattinson was gonna be Batman/Bruce Wayne, but everyone else lost their shit that the vampire guy from Twilight was gonna be Batman. Dude went from emo vampire to emo Batman.
Unlike the previous Batman movies, this is not fully-formed Batman. Thankfully, everyone else is also of appropriate age, even the villains. Even Gordon is just lieutenant in this and not the Commissioner as we always knew him in popular culture. At least Andy Serkis's Alfred also not as old as we've seen him in the past.
One always forgets that Batman is supposedly DC's "world's greatest detective", so it was nice to see that aspect on the big screen after all these years.
FWIW, it's up there with Nolan's Dark Knight franchise... so far. I'm sure there's gonna be sequels.
- Never thought I would hear so much Ave Maria and Nirvana in the same movie
- Wah, their Wayne manor damn Gothic-looking ah..
- At least it's contemporary enough that people have smart phones and are using them?
- At least they insinuated Alfred's spy past into this. (That said, imaging Serkis as a former spy is kinda hard to believe)
- Have to like how Barry Keoghan has a MASSIVE credit in this despite the fact that you don't see his face in the 3 hours, but you sorta hear him (presumably as Joker)? (Apparently poor dude almost got cut out of the movie, except for that last bit)
- Yeah, he's done rappelling before... (see Tenet)
- There's a lot of grappling hook work here; he very the reliant on them hor..
- Am I glad that Riddler's name wasn't E. Nygma
- Dunno whether to laugh or cry that both Maggie Gyllenhaal and her husband Peter Sarsgaard have now played Batman DAs that end up dead. When I first saw him, I was like, "is that Sarsgaard?" And it was.
- For how cheap (and less crowded, even on a weekend) the GSC in 3 Damansara is, it's one of those places where there's more eateries than anything much else to do so it's easy to just leave after the movie without any other distractions.
- All the suggested pee times in the RunPee app was during all the action scenes, which I would rather watch than some of the draggier parts of movies. But I used the 3rd suggested one to finally relieve myself.
