First concert of the year, while also being the last concert as a 30-something.
5th Coldplay show in 18 years.
Last round, my friend got the tickets during the bank presale; this time, I was the one who managed to get in during the Ticketmaster presale all the way from Malaysia. Unfortunately, we had to settle for the standing area because the seated areas were already gone or had single seats left by the time I got in because we were getting tickets for 4. Luckily I didn't have to pay them back for my ticket right away 😬(COD), but I still had to deal with paying for flights and accommodation for myself. It's a small blessing that we couldn't get the weekend ones because flights and hotels were already kinda expensive because of the Coldplay factor, lagi la if weekend.
Met up with friend, husband and their parent friend (who only got to know each other because of their kids) at the Starbucks before heading to the food court upstairs for dinner. Instead of chicken rice, this time I had the crab meat fried rice from the Thai stall (logic would be that it would be pretty fast for them to make).
Amazed this slid off so easily afterwards; it was either dehydration, or they were stuck on loosely, which I'm glad for cos no scissors |
By the time we finally got off our butts and made our way inside (so many stairs, so many checks, but managed to bring in my soft water bottle, camera and Gorillapod), the last opening act (Jasmine Sokko) was wrapping up her set. But we still had to wait awhile before they came on around 8.35 p.m.
Merch: Same same as last time. I was right in that the t-shirts would be $60, which after converting... KNS. But didn't get anything more this round, was happy with the one I bought.
No tears were shed this time cos was already losing bodily fluids sweating it out in the standing area. The cameras did a good job of tracking everyone (esp. Chris) moving around for the big screens. There was a slight SNAFU when the piano didn't quite sound right for The Scientist, so they pivoted to guitar by having Johnny play next to him. I didn't think I missed his Clocks piano humping, but I did and I was tickled to bits. They also played some deep cuts (from Parachutes la, no B-sides or whatever), which I'm not sure if other people know or even remembered, based on how quiet it got and not everyone was singing along like they were doing up to that point. The only time I hear the newer stuff these days is at shows LOL
This fler slept better than I did |
