Thunderbolts* - Labour Day movie

Dragged myself (early, but not terribly so) to go watch Thunderbolts* on our local opening day (May Day), which happens to be a public holiday for most people.

So it was obviously so when the room was kinda full by the time I got in there (as ads were playing), but it could be because it was RM14 for morning screenings as opposed to RM20+ after noon, so...

Basically to know who's who and what's going on, you would need to know what went on in... Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Ant-Man movies, Black Widow, Endgame (?)...

  • After hearing about Florence Pugh actually jumping off Merdeka 118 for ages now (since they were spotted here shooting it a year or two ago now?), I was kinda hoping not to see that stunt so early in the movie, but...I called it lah. Opening scene. I wonder if they just use KL as a location so that they have an excuse to shoot here, so some quid pro quo happened behind the scenes...? (ALLEGEDLY) Idk. If towers was the prerequisite, we certainly got those?
  • I wonder how much Olga Kurylenko worked on this movie, only for it to be (kinda unceremoniously) cut the way it did, so wtf LOL
  • It was funny that Bucky's arm is dishwasher safe LOL
  • Is it just me, or is Julia Louis-Dreyfus just been playing some version of Elaine in every role since Seinfeld
  • Every time I watch David Harbour and Florence Pugh in a scene together, I'm thinking, "these two are not speaking in their own accents" LOL
  • Couple of nepo babies, err... next generation actors in this: Wyatt Russell (Kurt and Goldie's kid) and Lewis Pullman (if you can never tell between Bill Pullman and Bill Paxton, well...)
  • I laughed so hard when they did the slow reveal of "and Bob" as "The Avengers and Bob will return" crawled across the screen after the stinger...
  • I wonder what kinda pull did that person have to be billed almost next to last at the end...? It wasn't just the usual suspects, either.
  • You might hear some sniffling. I was one of them.

NGL, I'm always impressed when someone from the Black Widow program can hold their own in an MCU movie even though they're surrounded by gods and/or enhanced humans. Yelena is the only one in the group who has no super serum or whatever, just mad skills and training.

I also wasn't expecting it to be so mental health focused? But good also lah

Fun watch. Worth the 2 hour and a bit run. Go watch it if so inclined.
