They're finally enforcing the "buckle up behind" rule, like they said they would, from midnight. According to the TV news, Johor's got the highest number of summons issued. Like they need more traffic jam in that place with all the roadblocks conducted to issue them, urgh.
Listening to news like this makes me glad that I didn't leave the house last night.
Until now til the end of June, the fine's RM300; after that it'll be RM2000 and/or a year's jail. Wah. So. the. serious.
If I remember correctly, it'll be on the passenger's ass for not buckling up behind. Only passengers exempt from that are those under 17, which will then be the driver's fault. Another exemption is for families of 6 and more, with the 4th kid in the back who can't possibly buckle up.
Speaking of rear seat belts, got to remember to get Mum to make appointment to install them for the Kelisa one fine Saturday. You would think that the local car manufacturers would've gone ahead and installed them before this ruling came into effect; but of course that probably would've eaten into their cost and bring the price up slightly, so they didn't. Now they have to do it for free for the next 3 years, haha.
