Lunch at Strato, Troika Sky Dining

Background: Won a RM100 voucher to Troika Sky Dining thanks to Feeding Time on BFM some months back. Since I couldn't be arsed to travel down during dinner and they're only open for lunch on weekdays, the opportunity to go finally came up one state holiday...

Dragged a friend who kinda had the day off and drove down. Didn't know people go to the Tabung Haji building on Jalan Tun Razak to do their Friday prayers, so their haphazardly parked cars causing quite the congestion along that road. Oy vey. Took about an hour to get to Troika. The basement parking at Troika is RM3 an hour. The only perk about going there on a KL workday afternoon was that there was no difficulty getting parking.

Elevator access is secure, so you have to tell people that you want to go up/down and they would have to tap their card and press the floor number for you.

By the time we reached the 24th floor (I know it's 23A, but let's call a spade a spade), there was no one to greet us, so we walked in and wandered the place a little. I love the ombre-coloured carpet they had downstairs (I know - so silly, kan?) at Cantaloupe. Then there was a thing about the voucher, because I don't have a physical voucher, so we were sent back downstairs (Strato is upstairs) and was admiring the wine list at an empty Claret when the owner(s?) walked past and enquired our situation. After we told him, Chris the owner told the guy to just seat us immediately. Long story short, it worked out okay. And we could use the voucher on both the ala carte items and/or the set lunch, if we wanted. Goes without saying that anything over RM100 we would have to pay for ourselves.

When we got seated, there were only two other occupied tables, one obviously a business lunch happening. From where we were sitting, we could see the KL Convention Centre just fine, but not the Twin Towers. Maybe you could see them from Cantaloupe...?

We both decided on the lunch set (RM65) since there wasn't much else to go with on the ala carte menu. Starter was a pumpkin soup with mushrooms and chorizo, I ended up with a pasta dish with a piece of duck confit on top. Dessert was a pineapple sticky cake.

Decided to split the voucher equally and only ended up paying about RM25 more, heh heh. All in all, if I didn't have a voucher, I would not have gone on my own dime.
