R.I.P.D.

Took me awhile, but I finally got round to watching R.I.P.D. (too cheap to pay the public holiday eve surcharge had I went last week as it was the night before Hari Raya). Saw the trailer in the cinema earlier and thought it was hilarious like heck. Yes, it is a little like Men in Black just that everyone's no longer living. Yes, it's Ryan Reynolds in yet another big screen adaptation of a comic book.

It's basically him getting recruited into the purgatory-esque version of MIB (RIPD) when he was killed on duty, that protects the living world from Deados (dead people that refuse to die that are still among the living) and getting paired up with Roy (Jeff Bridges) to show him the ropes.
  • Is it just me, or is there a lot of Mary-Louise Parker this year? Anyhow, love her as Proctor.
  • The visual gag of the old Asian guy (who shoots out of a banana, of all things) and Marisa Miller (as their living world "avatars") was pretty funny, especially that stunt where she gets hit by a bus. Is her gold bandage-esque body con dress a Herve Leger? *Googles to check - IT IS!*
  • Is anyone actually surprised that Kevin Bacon is the bad guy in this one? Yeah, me neither.
Lucky it's only a little over 90 minutes, or else it would be way too long. It's a fun, entertaining popcorn movie to watch. Bear that in mind if you ever watch it in the cinema.
